Behind the Scenes with Rosarium Health’s Therapists: Get to Know Amy Cuffin, OTR/L
We are turning the spotlight to Amy Cuffin, OTR/L, a valued member of our Home Safety Evaluation team at Rosarium Health. She's at the forefront of our mission of improving home safety and preventing institutionalization. Let's dive into her journey and role providing expert fall prevention healthcare.
1. What is your professional credentials and background?
I’ve been an OT for about 32 years, 31 of which were in home health. So I have a strong background in understanding patients who are homebound and have complex needs within their home.
I’ve also worked in just about every other setting periodically through the years but home health has always been the setting that I feel I can help people the most and where my passion lies.
I also became lymphedema certified in 2010, have my utilization management certification, and in 2024 received my CAPS/Certified Aging in Place Specialist certification.
2. What inspires you about Occupational Therapy and home safety?
I’d say helping people and their caregivers learn techniques to live independently. Home modifications, adaptive equipment, techniques to promote safety and independence is a really interesting and fun field to work in.
I love listening to my patients' needs and helping them come up with strategies to overcome obstacles. I also just love listening to their life stories!
3. What’s your expertise?
As a CAPS, Certified Aging in Place Specialist, and an Occupational Therapist with 30 years of experience in home health as well as a variety of other settings, I feel like I am an expert in fall prevention.
I excel in delivering expert care, detailed education for the patient and the family, and understanding low cost modifications that are simple yet effective in changing our patient’s lives. I have a strong passion as well for ensuring that the patient and family feel safe and happy with their care!
We are excited to have industry experts and passionate therapists such as Amy Cuffin, OTR/L.
