Day in the Life As A Rosarium Health Therapist: With Amy Cuffin, OTR/L

We are turning the spotlight to Amy Cuffin, OTR/L, a valued member of our Home Safety Evaluation team at Rosarium Health.
Let's dive into her journey and role in bringing expert fall prevention healthcare while also positively impacting her career and family.
1. What is your clinical background?
I’ve been an OT for about 32 years, 31 of which were in home health. So I have a strong background in understanding patients who are home bound and have complex needs within their home.
I’ve also worked in just about every other setting periodically through the years but home health has always been the setting that I feel I can help people the most and where my passion lies.
I also became lymphedema certified in 2010, have my utilization management certification, and in 2024 received my CAPS/Certified Aging in Place Specialist certification.
2. What motivated you to work for Rosarium?
I enjoy seeing the people I work with engaging in life and enjoying it. Knowing that I may have played a small role in making that possible for them really makes my day and is the reason I became a therapist. Rosarium allows me to contribute back to society and change peoples lives - I’ve learned so much about the resources that our patients can get through Rosarium and have learned to think bigger in terms of truely meeting the patients’ needs.
3. What inspires you within the aging in place role provided by Rosarium Health?
I’d say helping people and their caregivers learn techniques to live independently. Home modifications, adaptive equipment, techniques to promote safety and independence is a really interesting and fun field to work in.
I love listening to my patients' needs and helping them come up with strategies to overcome obstacles. I also just love listening to their life stories!
4. What did you like most about working with Rosarium Health?
I love the mission of helping clients live safe quality lives with their family and friends. It was also nice not to have to deal with the business and backend side.
Rosarium so far has seemed supportive, easy going, and understanding as we all navigate how to best treat the aging in place population. They are on the same mission and really support their therapists and contractors through providing a great resource to patients as well as a new income stream for providers.
5. How hard was it to complete the documentation?
The documentation was straightforward and thorough. I think it took me about an hour to complete it after I got home. Once I become more familiar with it I know that I could do most of it during the assessment itself.
6. How long did the home evaluation process take per client?
The home evaluation process took about 1 hour as I wanted to make sure I answered all of the clients questions and evaluated the entire home thoroughly.
- Tips for those interested in Rosarium and home modifications?
I felt comfortable performing the home evaluation based on my 30 years in home health as an OT but I realized about halfway through that I was still thinking small, primarily looking at no cost or lost solutions. I had to remind myself that this family had funding and Rosarium was advocating and working for them to get what they needed and so I could actually recommend what was best for them.It was a great feeling!
8. Did you feel supported while working with Rosarium?
The Rosarium team was friendly and took care of all the backend parts so that I could focus on just performing the home evaluation. I didn’t have to deal with marketing or even the patient follow up or submitting to insurance.
If I had any questions, they were quick to help and respond to make sure I was confident performing the evaluation and the paperwork.
Their work flow allowed me to do what I love; caring for people and helping them live quality safe lives in their own homes with their family and loved ones.
We are excited to have industry experts and passionate therapists such as Amy Cuffin, OTR/L.
